Serpico / Three Steps Up / Rusty James

Sunday March 23rd at the Alhambra in Oldenburg

A little bit more melodic evening. First were Rusty James from Bremen. I had seen them a few times before, and I always found it boring. This evening too. Too slow, too poppy, too shallow. Just not my cup of tea. Sorry, no points!
Next were Three Steps Up, who are (like Serpico) from New York. They were very much better than Rusty James, but nothing too extraordinary. Now, which is two weeks later, I can't remember much. Couldn't be that good. Average, I think.
Last band was Serpico. They were the best band that evening, and the first one that could get me dancing. But there was some trouble with a guy who hit the microphone right into John(the singer)'s face, and he was quite angry about that and nearly stopped playing. After a while he continued, but the gig was somehow teared apart. Later this evening there was even more trouble, because the guy with the mike had some scars shaped like SS runes, and made definitively no friends with that (neither with his rude behaviour). After the people at the Alhambra refused him and his pal a place to sleep for the night (because of the incidents all over the eveing), he left Sieg Heil-ing and nearly causing a fight. Shit, some people never learn, and they could easily ruin an evening.
After all the evening was ok. I didn't regret to go, but I'd think twice about seeing this combination of bands a second time.
