March 13th '97 in Bremen (Gruenenstrasse)
The first gig I went to this year. My girlfriend and me decided in the end
of 96, that I would stop going to concerts for a while to let things in our
relationship calm down. But things didn't calm down, they even kept on getting
worse. So I finally quit the thing. No easy decision, after five years I
got used to her, and I really liked her, but I couldn't stand the fightings
anymore. So I'm on the road again, ready to see some gigs, and this was the
first one.
First were Assay from the Bremen area. They play a kind of tuneful emocore,
which I liked very much this evening. They had a slide show during the show,
which accompanied the music very well. A very fine band, a very fine show.
If you could see them, do so !
Well, I couldn't get into one of the following bands. They both played
ultrafast hardcore, to fast for me that evening. And the gigs were very short,
it just didn't make that certain *click*. Maybe it was because it was the first
time I was at a gig since the end of the relationship, and I thought about
it very much. Which didn't help me letting me go :). After all I liked Assay
best, it just all fitted together. Great band.
